Read this thread and look at pictures in it. SFF can only take very short gpu. The low profile zotac I am afraid is too long for your case.

Would doing crossfire be a good idea with or should I get a new card? Thanks for the help. Showing 1 - 11 of 11 comments. You will need to get a new PSU unfortuately. That one is too weak for even the weakest cards.
I would suggest getting a new, single GPU and selling that one if possible. Depending on the budget you could go for pretty much any graphics card. Rumpelcrutchskin View Profile View Posts. You cant crossfire anything with this. I think this low-profile GTX is pretty much best you can do with it, it comes with low profile brackets that you can change out so it will fit in slim case and uses 55W of power so should be ok with your W PSU.
Optiplex's are enterprise workstations and Dell uses a proprietary PSU, we've been using Optiplex where I work for at least 12 years Honestly for that rig the best option would be at best a Ti or maybe there'll be an upcoming SFF or Ti. Is it mid tower, desktop, or mini?
If it's a desktop model and even some case mini you can look for a small form factor GPU, that will run with the existing PSU. Get a new case, new motherboard and new power supply and new video card. Ok thanks for all the suggestions.
Here are a few answers to the questions. It is desktop model. This cable uses a momentary switch and a multi-colored white, orange LED. Power Switch momentary function: Black and Yellow wires. I believe that the red and green wires are actually different voltages for each color, white being 5v and orange being 3.
A different theory follows a more than common pinout for standard RGB LED strips, where each color is a ground and a stead 5v is applied to the strip rather than to each LED. Dell does not publish specs for wiring. Its always been proprietary and undocumented. Any wiring diagrams posted on the web are from users, not Dell. SSD drives.
Cakewalk by BandLab and Studio One 4. There are 3 wires going to a Tri color LED. I am not however going to encourage this or provide instructions on how to do this. Others have indicated that the red and yellow wires are shorted together through the switch. I too am a user. Being driven by a desire to expand functionality and mitigate temperature concerns, I have successfully migrated necessary components from a Dell Optiplex DT from its originally case to a full size ATX case that was from the first computer I built years ago!
What I started, thinking it would be a simple task, was tedious, meticulous and potentially hazardous to my equipment. This is for informational purposes only. Use this information at your own risk and ALWAYS confirm everything personally because assumptions are the mother of all mistakes.
Moving forward I found information on the web about the 5 wire pinout for the power button and bi-color LED harness with 6 pin connector one cut and used as key. I found the information at here. A diagram was located at this page.
I can confirm that pins 1 and 5 yellow and red are shorted together. Shorting them brings the voltage low enough to cause PSON power supply on. I actually disassembled the power button and used just the interior portion to replace the original green power LED, making sure not to push it in far enough to depress the switch.
This may have just been luck. I accessed the wires by sliding the boot at the end toward the connector and scribed the jacket a couple of inches, then opened it up and pulled out the two wires that I cut, stripped and soldered to the leads going to the new LED. I stuffed everything but the heat shrink covered solder joints back into the jacket, pulled the boot back over the end and taped it all up with electrical tape, letting the new leads hang out.Quick Links. The first model to sport the new BTX case was a limited amount of GX computers, however they were still mainly sold in the older cases. The OptiPlex introduces a new style of cases, made to be eco-friendly with recyclable plastics.
